Quite simply, our rescue team at the centre are beyond amazing. The work they do is exceptional. They are a small team that take on a big responsibility and a considerable workload. Although they are responsible for managing the surrender of pets and their rehoming, the team also love and provide care and compassion for every pet that walks through these doors.
Joely is our newly appointed Rescue Office Coordinator, progressing on from being a member of our animal care and office assistant teams. Joely’s warm personality and infectious smile has the ability to brighten any room. Her days involve assessing animals from their arrival, before matching them up and finding them their new, forever homes.
Joely has previously spent 3 years travelling around Australia, New Zealand and Bali. During this time she worked with many dogs in different circumstances including at a busy day care in New Zealand and helping poorly street dogs in Bali.
Gemma is currently completing her apprenticeship at the Centre, beginning on-site before progressing to assisting within our rescue office.
Gemma works alongside Joely, mainly supporting the rescue office with its phone lines and admin.
Gemma also has experience assisting in a grooming salon which gave her the push to pursue her dream of working with animals full time and her wish to gain qualifications in animal care and husbandry!
Ros is our onsite animal assessment officer and trainer. Ros works two days a week for the charity (Tues/Sun).
She has a fantastic manner with the nervous rescue dogs and cats and is always going the extra mile to ensure their stay with us is perfect for their every need.
She has a strong passion for rescue owning her two own large breed rescues. Ros can often be found training our rescue animals giving them key skills that will help their transition into the home.
Karen at one point had four rescue dogs but sadly two recently crossed the rainbow bridge. She has adopted 6 dogs in the past 20 years.
Karen has come to us from a rich Marketing and Design background having worked for Harper Collins and with Fox Studios on the Simpsons Merchandise brand license.
Volunteering is an enjoyable way of helping a rescue animal and can be very rewarding to both you and the animal. We have a range of volunteering roles from dog walking and cat cuddling through to helping raise much needed funds or home visiting. You will meet like minded people and enjoy developing or learning new skills.
